The Red Cross is the world's leading disaster relief organization. We are on site before, during and after disasters to help vulnerable people in acute crisis and distress and to strengthen the resilience of societies and their ability to recover afterwards. The Swedish Red Cross is one of 191 national societies in a worldwide movement and our mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering, protect life and health and ensure respect for the dignity of every person in Sweden and internationally. In Sweden, the Swedish Red Cross helps people who have sought protection in Sweden from war, conflict and persecution. We work with research and family reunification and contribute with psychosocial support to strengthen people's ability to cope with stressful events. All over Sweden, the Swedish Red Cross works with health-promoting activities to break involuntary isolation and strengthen physical, mental and social well-being. By offering meeting places for people, we strengthen participation in society. The Swedish Red Cross is part of Sweden's crisis preparedness and provides humanitarian support, first aid and practical help in crises. Internationally, the Swedish Red Cross's international operations help people affected by crises, wars, conflicts and natural disasters and respond to at least 25 appeals for disaster relief from different areas of the world.
